John was a member of Queen Victoria's Bodyguard before being
sent to Canada as a soldier of the British Regular Army.
He then came to the United States, where,
in Osenego, NY, he met Anna.
He was of the Church of England, and she, Irish Catholic.
All of their children were Baptist.
Anna was a native of Ireland, brought to this country
by an elder sister when Anna was a small girl.
